Young Children and Families provides diagnostic
assessments, early intervention for children under
6 with ASD, family support and information services.
Autism Information Line
Aspect's Autism Information Line provides
information regarding ASD,
including related services and referrals. It is staffed
by Aspect professionals
who can also provide brief but practical advice
and forward information.
The Autism Information
Line is often the first contact point within
Aspect for people who require general information,
or who are not sure who to contact. This service
is for people with autism spectrum disorders,
their families and carers, and service providers.

Aspect Far North Coast Centre for Autism
The Aspect Far North Coast Centre
for Autism opened in March
2005. It provides early intervention programs for
young children and their families living in the Lismore,
Ballina and Tweed regions of northern NSW. The Centre
also offers a resource centre and other support programs.
Diagnostic Assessment Service
Aspect provides a Diagnostic
Assessment Service for families
living in NSW. The assessments are provided
by registered psychologists, who have additional
training in modern autism spectrum disorder assessment
protocols, on a fee for service basis.
Building Blocks Early Intervention
for Autism
Aspect's Building
Blocks provides a number of different
programs for children with autism and their
families. The service focuses on assessing
children with autism, developing individualised
interventions based on need, training parents
to work more effectively with their children
and assisting with the integration of children
with autism into preschool and the wider
community.
"Someone to turn
to…" Volunteer Parent
Support Program
"Someone to turn to…" provides
emotional and practical support for parents who,
for example, have a child with a recent diagnosis
of autism, and would like supportive contact with
a volunteer parent who has had similar experiences.
Aspect Education and Research
Education and Research provides education
and services to school-aged children with ASD and
conducts research studies.
Schools
Aspect Schools focus on the development of communication and social skills. Every
student has an individual program developed in consultation with families, after
careful assessment of strengths and needs in all environments. The six Aspect
Schools are:
The Multi-Disciplinary Team provides consultative
therapy services and counselling to students enrolled
in the six Aspect schools, their families and our teaching staff.
School Outreach Service
Aspect's School Outreach Service is
a multidisciplinary special education team providing
a diverse range of services to children (K-Year 12)
in integrated mainstream placements, and for their
families and schools in the greater Sydney metropolitan
area.
Research
In 2006 Aspect conducted two major research
studies.
Adults and Behaviour Support provides accommodation, employment,
community participation and behaviour support services
to adolescents and adults with ASD.
Employment, Accommodation and Community Participation
Based in Ryde (Sydney), Aspect's Behaviour
Intervention Service is a specialist service for families,
carers, schools and NGOs who support children
and adolescents with a disability who have an
emerging or current challenging behaviour.
Recipe for Success
Recipe for Success is an
innovative support program for parents and carers
of children with ASD.
Its main purpose is to assist parents and carers
to better understand and manage the challenging behavour of their
children.
Coordinated Access to Services and Support (CASS)
Aspect's Coordinated Access to Services
and Support project
provides specialist case management and brokerage
servicecs to adolescents with an ASD and
their families in DADHC's Metro North region. It
targets 12-18 year olds with high support needs who
live at home.
Other Aspect
programs
"A" Kids Camp - this yearly camp gives siblings of a child
with autism a chance to meet other children who share
their situation, feel special, talk about their issues
and most importantly, have loads of fun!
Social Programs for Adolescents
and Adults - Aspect services offer a number of
communication and social groups for young adults with an autism
spectrum disorder, providing a relaxed environment in which
to practice social skills and conversation.
